Designers are often labeled as “artists of the future” or “sophisticated engineers,” but the truth is that most of us are merely scientists and engineers.
As a result, we tend to be overly cautious about which technologies or fields we are actually interested in pursuing.
This can lead to a situation where we ignore a new technology or field that we are unsure about because we are afraid of missing out on something valuable.
We need to step back and ask ourselves if a certain technology or area of engineering is worth pursuing, if it is a good idea to pursue, and how we can help to build a better world for the next generation.
We can be a force for good by being open and transparent.
Designing for the Future is a quarterly publication of New York magazine.

A TED Talk is a TED-style talk, which is a series of short videos.
This type of video content is also often referred to as a keynote or talk.
TED talks typically take place at a public event or conference, typically in a room in the same room as the audience.
TED Talks are recorded by the TED organizers and then released to the public, which gives everyone a chance to share their thoughts.
The content of a TED talk typically includes a brief description, background information, and the full talk, but there are many additional parts that can be included.
We encourage you to listen to each of the TED Talks in their entirety.
